Sankalp National Program 2007
A day to remember where some amazing musicians from north india came down to perform in Bangalore.
The occasion was the national program of Sangeet Sankalp jointly hosted by Gokhale Institute Of Public Affairs and Sangeet Sankalp Bangalore Chapter.

To kick start it was Pt Santosh Nahar from Delhi ,he played Raag Ahir Bhairav . His deft fingering on the violin caught everybodys attention, on the Tabla Adarsh Shenoy kept pace and came up with interesting answers.
For the Bangalore audience violin is definitely not a new instrument but Pt Nahar’s handling was a treat to watch.


Following vocal recital of Pt Ulhas Telang from Bhopal he presented Raag Nat Bhairav .his performance was so full of information .he explained the concepts behind the raaga and presented amazing variety of compositions He also performed Raag Desi in the typical Rajasthani style.
On the tabla pt rajendra nakod with his inimitable style of playing kept the audience rapt. Narasimha kulkarni on the harmonium was almost a shadow of the vocalist.

Evening session: Amidst some heavy rains started on time and a very big crowd turned in.

For the first time in Bangalore a complete thumri concert was organised the singer Aarti Srivastava from allahabad is pursuing this rare and dying art .mishra khamaj, mishra peelu and jhoola were some of the beautiful pieces.
On the tabla accompanying her was Pankaj Srivastava and Basavraj Mugalkhod.

The last event of the day was Pt T Radhakrishna from Bangalore whose sitar recital was an absolute treat to watch.he was on the “Hindustai Sangeet Vidyapeeth” invitation.

Presenting the true Senia Maihar tradition which dates back to days of Tansen Pt Radhakrishna presented Raag Puriya Kalyan in the true traditional style .
On the Tabla Rajendra Nakod weaved some magical patterns which kept the audience wanting more and more.

Dr. Mukesh Garg the founder member and president of Sangeet Sankalp gave a brief lecture on the importance of Sangeet Sankalp in the present scenario and about the emergence of Sangeet Sankalp as a genuine custodian of true Indian Heritage and Culture.

Bangalore Sangeet Sankalp- team and activities

Bangalore Sangeet Sankalp is in its fourth year, having successfully done programmes succesfully in local and National scale. The team consists of:

A disciple of Pt. Parameshwar Hegde of the Kirana Gharana since the year 2000, Koushik was initially trained by Humayun Haralapur, for a period of 5 years. Began performing in the year 2003 and has since been performing at concerts arranged by organizations such as Rajguru Smriti, Shruti, Samvad, Ananya, Department of Kannada and Culture - Government of Karnataka, at Mumbai, Kalyan, Bhopal,and at a landmark concert organized by ITC Sangeet Research Academy in NCPA Mumbai. Awarded a scholarship for ‘Young Artists’ by the Government of India for the years 2006- 2008, this musician with a melodious and sonorous voice and has won the First Place at the national level in the ‘Hindustani Vocal Competition’ in the year 2006, organized by the All India Radio.He has also the distinction of being awarded the ‘Promising Artist’ award in the year 2006 from the ITC Sangeet Research Academy.
